Green Initiative: Tree Planting in the Ward

A Team Effort to Plant Trees In Elmhurst

Many hands make great work, and thanks to the efforts of the Providence Neighborhood Planting Program, City Forester Doug Sill, volunteers from Providence College, and our partners at 02908, new trees planted in Elmhurst will filter the air and storm water run off, and help reduce CO2, while also providing shade and color for years to come. Tree plantings also help reduce sidewalk and street surface temperatures by providing cooling shade in heat of summer, and are a simple way to beautify your neighborhood.

72 trees were planted city wide this weekend, if you think your neighborhood could use more trees, consider applying for a Neighborhood Tree Planting Award sponsored by the City and the Providence Neighborhood Planting Program. You can also send an email to info@pnpp.org to request more information.
