Jo-Ann Ryan

Representative for Ward 5 in Providence

"I promised reform, and I have kept my word!"

  • I pride myself on being a roll-up-your-sleeves kind of person who fearlessly stands firm in my beliefs. As a City leader, I know the importance of setting clear, achievable goals, and committing myself to doing all that I can to see that they are met.

  • I understand that it’s my responsibility as your Councilwoman to constantly be working for the betterment of our City and my constituents in Ward 5. I am honored that you’ve chosen me to represent you on the Providence City Council. It has been more satisfying than I ever imagined and I greatly appreciate your continued trust and support.

Help Me Continue Working for You

My Mission & Vision

Fiscal responsibility is important to me, and as Chair of the Finance Committee, I will work with the committee to:

  • Do more with less.

  • Streamline City operations.

  • Deliver a balanced budget.

  • Keep an eye on City borrowing.

And for the first time in almost a decade, Providence now has a rainy day fund — thanks in large part to the work and dedication put in by me and my peers on the Finance Committee and in City Council.

Let’s Communicate & Connect

The best part of my job as your Councilwoman is the time I spend with you, my constituents; which is why you’ll often find me at community events around the ward. I also hold a monthly ward meeting to encourage dialogue and keep you informed about news and issues that have an impact on our ward and the City at large.

I look forward to seeing you at events around the ward, and hope you’ll bring your concerns to the next community meeting. Learn how to connect below!
