A big thank you to all the neighbors in Ward 5 who pitched in to help clear fallen tree limbs from our streets, sidewalks and private spaces after the windstorm on Thursday night.

Your efforts were a big help to the Forestry Department, which has coordinated efforts with National Grid’s Forestry Department, the Department of Public Works and Providence Public Safety officials to work around the clock to clean up around the city — including the removal of over 60 fallen trees.

Please continue to call 311 for assistance for downed trees, tree limbs or fallen power lines.

And as we get closer to the stormy winter season, please remember never to touch downed power lines. Downed power lines should always be reported to National Grid at 1-800-465-1212.

Mother Nature’s fury has a way of bringing out the best in folks. Thank you again to everyone for your help and for your patience.
